Mastering Negotiations with Behavioural Science

Master the Art and Science of Negotiation: A formula that helps you get what you want

Negotiation shapes more than boardrooms - whether it’s securing that dream home, getting a long-overdue raise, or even deciding on that Netflix movie you and your partner are debating whether to watch tonight.
We all need negotiation skills, because the truth is, we all use them - every day. And while negotiation can be stressful, it doesn’t have to be intimidating. The sooner you understand how to get what you want, the easier it is to respond - without the stress.

In this 8 hour, self-paced online course, you’ll learn 10 powerful behavioural principles that explain why we make irrational choices - and how to turn those insights into real advantages.

It’s about giving the other side what they want, so you can get what you want.

Plus: we’ve created an AI negotiation bot you can practise with - a realistic way to practise your skills.
Ready to rethink negotiation? Enrol now and gain a Microcredential Certificate to showcase your new skills.

Max Reisner, Negotiation Coach and Behavioural Scientist

Max is a thought leader in behavioural science and negotiation. With over a decade of experience in both academia and industry, he is advising major Australian organisations on high-stakes, multimillion-dollar negotiations, helping them understand the psychology that drives people in moments that matter and influences their behaviour.

Max has coached over 1,200 professionals to build confidence in negotiations and use behavioural insights to get what they want. He is the founder of Decision Science, a boutique consultancy that blends behavioural science and creative thinking to help organisations better understand, and influence, the irrational brain of their clients and customers.

Designed to fit around a busy schedule, this course is 100% online and self-paced, with around 8 hours of learning across 4 practical modules. Each one builds on the last, helping you move from behavioural insights to confident real-world negotiation.

Module 1 - Foundations of Behavioural Science

Start by exploring how people actually make decisions - not how we wish they did. You’ll unpack key behavioural science concepts like System 1 and 2 thinking, nudge theory, and mental shortcuts that shape choices in negotiation (often without us even realising).

Module 2 - Setting negotiations up for success

Learn how to shape the conversation before it even starts. This module dives into anchoring, framing, and how to spot and manage confirmation bias. You’ll discover how the way you open a negotiation can have a big impact on how it ends.

Module 3 - Negotiation techniques

Here you’ll learn how to ask questions that reveal what matters, how to build trust through perspective-taking, and how to apply techniques like “Yes, and…”, hypothetical framing, and fight fire with water to keep things constructive - even when tensions rise.

Module 4 - Putting the Concepts to Work

This is where it all comes together. Through case studies, applied exercises, and a realistic AI negotiation bot, you’ll apply what you’ve learned.

I have to admit that I'm a knowledge junkie and this micro-course delivered by Max Reisner has been one of my favourites. Thank you Max I've learnt a lot from you. Looking forward to the next one in Behavioural economics. I highly recommend anyone in any discipline to do this course as it's relevant regardless of your field because we make decisions (or we think we do) every day

I always love it when my thinking is challenged, and this workshop certainly did that for most of us. I particularly enjoyed the role playing to cement the concepts. Max was engaging, funny and very interactive.

I like learning about the ways in which we can test for heuristics and biases. It's exciting to me to not only be getting insights on how these biases may be affecting everyday decisions, but learning how to test our own workplaces and lives for these biases.
