The Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for attracting and delivering commissioned research work within the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare (IEBH). This includes leadership and management of evidence-synthesis research projects, both grant and contract based. They will work on with the development of external grants and contract proposals, and be expected to lead some, but not all. They will coordinate the relevant projects teams for each evidence synthesis project. This will include supervising and coordinating, research assistants, statistician, epidemiologists, and clinicians.

 The role also includes providing support for mentoring and training of junior staff and higher degree students. They will also manage finances and documentation associated with commissioned work and ensure successful and timely delivery of projects. The successful candidate will be a member of the IEBH Executive.

The Assistant/Associate Professor will work within the Bond University Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare (IEBH), which is a successful, multidisciplinary team established in June 2010 by Professor Paul Glasziou.  The Institute delivers world-class research, engagement, and training that serves as a national and international resource for scholars, clinicians, system leaders, patients, and families in the implementation of evidence-based clinical care. collaborative research with a focus on translation of evidence into practice and policy.

About the person

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A PhD qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience in project management of team-based research projects, particularly evidence synthesis.
  • Experience in systematic reviews, and other methods of evidence synthesis.
  • High level leadership, interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills along with the capacity to liaise and build effective working relationships at all levels with university staff and industry/health partners.
  • A strong track record in a range of research as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and research supervision including successful Honours, postgraduate research and/or HDR completions.
  • Familiarity with current and future priorities in healthcare services and system development and contemporary approaches to implementation of research evidence into practice and policy.

Salary details

The salary for this position is outlined below:

  • Associate Professor B remuneration commences at $162,466 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
  • Assistant Professor A remuneration commences at $154,787 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
