Professional biography

Multi-dimensional defines my academic career as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Society and Design at Bond University. My experience in higher education and the wider community has formed around my twenty years of industry and academic experience in emerging technology, teaching and learning. I take an active role in supporting learners and peers through mentorship, presentations and expert judging. My scholarship in learning and teaching spans computer science, games and visual arts, with an emphasis on applied design and development of interactive mixed reality (virtual reality, augmented reality, 3d printing, mobile) experiences assisting learning, skills acquisition and knowledge discovery. The distinctive contribution I bring to research and scholarship is evidenced in over 60 research publications and multiple national media engagements including The Conversation, ABC News and The Project. In 2020, I received a Universities Australia citation for sustained leadership in the scholarship of mobile mixed reality innovations to enhance authentic experiential teaching and learning. This followed my award of a citation in 2014 for innovation in emerging technology and applied digital multimedia to enhance learning.
