“Globalisation Disrupted”: Competing Futures in a Multipolar World

Book Launch  - “Globalisation Disrupted”: Competing Futures in a Multipolar World

You are invited to the launch of Globalisation Disrupted (2026), to be held at Bond Brisbane (Level 26, 240 Queen Street, Brisbane City). Join us for an engaging evening exploring how the tectonic plates of globalisation are shifting, and what this means for Australia. Globalisation Disrupted brings together leading voices on trade, technology, and geopolitics to examine the forces reshaping the global economic order. To mark its publication, we invite you to an evening of ideas, discussion, and connection.

Keynote Address
Professor Peter Draper (Executive Director of the Institute for International Trade and Director of the Jean Monnet Centre on Trade and Environment at the University of Adelaide) will deliver the keynote address, examining Australia’s need to adapt in an era of institutional weakness. His reflections will frame a broader conversation on resilience, policy choices, and the reforms required for Australia to navigate a more fragmented international landscape.

The event offers a timely forum for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to reflect on a world in which trade instruments, ranging from tariffs to export controls, and new diplomatic initiatives are reshaping global cooperation. Against the backdrop of shifting alliances, President Trump’s renewed use of tariffs and emerging efforts by Canadian leadership to galvanise new middle-power coalitions highlight the accelerating reordering of global economic governance.

The formal presentation will run from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, followed by brief summaries of the book by the editors and then networking and refreshments from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, offering guests the opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with colleagues.

Who should attend? Academics, policymakers, industry leaders, students, and anyone interested in how globalisation is being re wired by politics, technology, and strategic competition.
