Meet our Bondies | Annita Gibson

In our first 30 years, almost 30,000 alumni have graduated from Bond University. To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re showcasing some of the past students who have paved the way for the next generation of Bondies.

Meet Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science (CIRCOS 063195G) alumna, Annita Gibson.

What is your current role?

Gaming Operations Supervisor at The Star Casino, Gold Coast.

Where are you based?

Gold Coast.

Why did you choose to attend Bond?

Because I had friends who had attended Bond and spoke about the experience so highly.

What are your recollections of your time here?

I loved spending break time in the courtyard, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings – particularly when the jacaranda trees were blossoming. I love the waterfall stairs and lake. These places offered peace and tranquillity during times of academic stress. I enjoyed the variety of events that were free to the students too. I appreciated the small class groups and one-on-one time provided by the professors. Two years after graduating, I am still in contact with my thesis supervisor.

How has being a Bond graduate helped you in your career?

It has given me confidence to put myself out there, and be bold when seeking opportunities.

What have been your career highlights so far?

I had my research paper published which has provided opportunities to connect with different people in the business, promote my skills and share my knowledge. Additionally, I have presented and taught other groups, which I am passionate about.

What advice would you give to current Bondies?

Immerse yourself in the experience. It will all be over before you know it and then just be a memory. Stay connected to your alumni and your supervisors.

What does it mean to you to be a Bondy?

Proud. Connected to a fantastic global community and achieving goals.

What is your favourite memory of Bond

Sitting in a dedicated fourth-year psychology study space with classmates all working towards our theses, and supporting one another. And the view outside over the lake and hearing the buzz of a Year 12 formal.
