Description
Subject details
Learning outcomes
- Apply BIM/Lean/IPD technology platforms and/or principles to enhance decision making regarding the need for and execution of project change/variation/s.
- Prepare proposed process changes using learnings from use of BIM/Lean/IPD technology platforms and/or principles in specific change/variations management situations to inform and enhance improvement in variations management protocols and processes on current and future projects.
- Discover the importance of collaborative and integrated input to workflow and design model change in collaborative a BIM/Lean/IPD project environment.
- Point out potential risks of failure to ensure collaborative identification and management of design and delivery process improvement, and optimum variation control during all phases of the development process as defined in the buildingSMART Australasia BIM framework.
- Analyse BIM models to determine where design and construction outcomes might be improved by timely initiation of design variations.
- Prepare estimates of cost for design variations being considered using the BIM model in a collaborative stakeholder working environment.

Assumed knowledge: |
Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.
|
Restrictions: |
Students are required to have cognate discipline knowledge prior to enrolment. Bond PG sudents enrolled in either Architecture, Project Management , Property or City Planning can take this subject as an elective. Study abroad students or Bond students enrolled in non-cognate degrees require approval from the programs Discipline Lead to enrol. This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure. |
