Description
The music industry is among the largest worldwide, and music is a pervasive part of our lives. We turn on music while driving, we listen to music at parties, bars, and restaurants, we dance to music, shop to music, sing in the shower, and attend concerts. Yet the psychological, social, and health benefits of this aspect of our lives are not widely understood. The goal of Music, Psychology and Health is to expose you to the psychological and social dimensions of music in every day experience, and how they might benefit health and wellbeing. You will examine current psychological research and theory on music, explore the social significance of music, and discuss implications for therapeutic uses of music. By the end of the subject, you will have an understanding of the cognitive, emotional, and health implications of music.
