Description

IT Law, Privacy and Cyber-Security is a compulsory subject in the Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance offered by the Faculty of Law. The subject will examine the laws regulating information technology, privacy and cyber-security as they apply to enterprises as well as the consequences of non-compliance. Students will learn about the key features and legal challenges associated with new technologies, learn how to assess and manage privacy risks, and appreciate the importance of cyber-security to a successful enterprise.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe the key features and legal challenges of IT, both at an enterprise level and globally, inclusive of dealing with regulators, clients and other stakeholders
  2. Explain the enterprise’s legal obligations with respect to privacy, assess privacy risks and apply principles of enterprise governance to manage those risks
  3. Describe legal implications of recent and potential future cyber-threats, and develop enterprise strategies to minimise and mitigate them
