LAWS77-583: Solomon Islands Law Immersion

Description

Solomon Islands Law Immersion is an elective subject in the Juris Doctor program offered by the Faculty of Law. Students will undertake a placement in the Solomon Islands under the supervision of an experienced legal practitioner. They will interact with legal professionals; legal support staff, Government officers and clients and critically reflect on their placement experience.

Learning outcomes

  1. Apply and demonstrate competence while interacting with practising lawyers, clients and Solomon Island government officers and personnel.
  2. Critically and insightfully reflect upon practical experience.
  3. Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills when collaborating with staff, government officers and clients within a work environment.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.
