Description
Administrative Law is a compulsory subject in the Juris Doctor Online program offered by the Faculty of Law. It examines administrative law with a focus upon organisation and structure of the administration; administrative law theory; common law and statutory avenues of judicial review at Commonwealth and State level; grounds of judicial review; remedies; Crown immunity; the Commonwealth Administrative Review Tribunal, and the State and Territory Administrative Tribunals; statutory review; and freedom of information.

Learning outcomes
- Analyse and evaluate legal principles governing judicial and merits review, administrative justice, and statutory interpretation in public law contexts.
- Apply and synthesise doctrinal knowledge and legal and ethical reasoning to advise clients in simulated administrative law disputes.
- Demonstrate professional legal skills at an advanced level in the context of administrative law and practice, with a particular focus upon oral communication and advocacy skills.
