LAWS11-321: Bookkeeping and Trust Accounts

Description

Bookkeeping and Trust Accounts is a compulsory subject in the Bachelor of Laws program offered by the Faculty of Law. This 5 credit point subject examines the statutory rules applicable to the operation of trust accounts in a legal practice. Students will receive practical training in basic bookkeeping for responsible legal practice.

Learning outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the statutory and ethical standards in relation to handling trust moneys and operating a law practice trust account in conformity with the legislation and ethical standards that apply to the legal profession in Queensland.
  2. Apply the statutory and ethical standards and to be able to communicate effectively an understanding of those legislative and ethical requirements.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study.
