Description
The subject prepares you to report on global issues and trends and share the stories of people affected by major events. The role of the journalist is more complex than ever. Using current examples, you will learn how to analyse events of international importance and ensure you report issues and people’s stories accurately and ethically. You will explore a range of reporting methods, including interviewing, social media tools and uses, verification of information and fact-checking. You will also learn how to analyse complex geopolitical issues, understand ethical and legal frameworks, and convey information in a compelling and accessible way. There is an emphasis on raising awareness through the reporting process. Through in-class exercises, you will explore a range of creative formats, including infographics, news stories, and features.
