This creative and practical hands-on, workshop-based subject delves deep into the fascinating and imaginative world of Production Design and the critical role it plays in bringing alive films and other screen media. Students will critically analyse and evaluate the aesthetic and experiential qualities of visual environments created according to the needs and genre of the narrative. Students will develop creative design skills in analogue and digital 2D and 3D visualisation, including storyboarding, perspective drawing, model making and physical set design. As well as, exploring creative design production concepts through to realisation. Study of script analysis and visual interpretation, authenticity of atmosphere and design research, including, historical and locational accuracy will underpin the production design process. Students will also develop skills in leadership, production design management and interdisciplinary collaboration between Architecture and Film and Television.
