Description

In this subject, students will develop entrepreneurial capabilities to establish, market, and sustain culturally safe exercise physiology services in the Australian healthcare sector. Students will critically evaluate business models, regulatory frameworks, and marketing strategies specific to accredited practice. Through authentic business planning, operational system design, and financial analysis, students will synthesise professional standards, cultural safety, and commercial viability. The subject integrates ESSA requirements, Medicare, NDIS, and WorkCover with digital marketing, risk management, and advocacy, in order to prepare students for private practice, consultancy, or leadership roles that serve diverse populations.

Learning outcomes

  1. Design comprehensive business and operational systems that integrate regulatory compliance, funding pathways, quality assurance, and culturally safe practice protocols in an Australian healthcare context.
  2. Critically evaluate market opportunities, competitive positioning, and service viability across diverse exercise physiology settings including private practice, NDIS, Medicare, WorkCover and corporate wellness, to determine strategic business alignment.
  3. Justify strategic marketing and referral approaches by synthesising evidence-based service differentiation and digital marketing principles with professional ethical standards.
  4. Develop resilient financial and risk management strategies to ensure business sustainability and compliance within changing healthcare policy environments.
  5. Embed culturally safe and equitable practices into business planning to promote health equity in Australia, including for First Nations people.
