Description

This English, upper intermediate, (*B2) level subject will build skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and interaction for academic purposes.  Students will develop relevant academic skills, digital literacies and intercultural competency in preparation for higher education and beyond.    * In accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (Council of Europe, 2020)

Learning outcomes

  1. Deliver a short oral presentation on a researched topic for an academic purpose.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of information, main ideas and opinions by listening to short spoken tests on familiar topics for academic purposes.
  3. Obtain information, main ideas and opinions from reading short written texts on familiar topics for academic purposes.
  4. Write a range of short texts on familiar topics for academic purposes.
  5. Participate in short collaborative interactions to construct meaning for an academic purpose.

Assumed knowledge:

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for studentsโ€™ lack of prior knowledge.
