Four Bull Sharks have taken a step closer to realising their AFLW ambitions after being invited to attend pre-season training with the Gold Coast Suns.

Maisy Evans, Skye White, Shannon Nolan and Ella Calleja got the letter every Gold Coast-based footballer dreams of this week and will join the Suns at People First Stadium on Monday.

And while the jumpers will be different, many of the faces will be familiar.

The four will reconnect with former teammates Havana Harris, Mia Salisbury, Nyalli Milne and Tara Harrington who were selected in the 2025 AFLW draft.

The list is littered with former Bull Sharks such as Meara Girvan, Sienna McMullen and Kiara Bischa.

2024 Riewoldt AFL Excellence Scholar and QAFLW Round 5 Rising Star Maisy Evans said the opportunity to train with the Suns is something she’s excited about.

“All I want to do is get better,” she said.

“I’m also excited to see some of the old Bull Sharks because we all get along so well.”

Star defender Skye White made an early appearance at Gold Coast Suns training this week and said it was exciting to train alongside some of her previous teammates from U17s.

“Monday morning’s training was filled with positive energy and great intensity,” White said.

Director of AFL and head women’s coach Andy Lovell said the experience will be great for match simulation against recognised AFLW players.

“This opportunity will give the girls a real taste of what high-level AFLW looks like and hopefully they will bring some new skills and experience back with them to The Canal,” Lovell said.

The Bull Sharks QAFLW team has had a successful start to the season, only conceding to reigning premiers Southport.

“I feel like I've been playing some really good footy,” Maisy Evans said.

“I’ve really improved since last year and am a little more fearless.

“We are playing a different style of footy compared to last year.

“I think we’re more functional - we just work better.”
