Netball round 2 match report

netball

The Bull Sharks had a rollercoaster ride when they faced the Titans on Saturday with the Sapphire squad enduring a tough 59-48 loss but the Ruby team notching an exceptional 38-33 win.

It was a back-and-forth game for the Ruby team, with Bond and the Titans exchanging the lead several times.

Bond University Head of Netball Kim Boland said she was proud of how the Ruby girls performed in the tight game.

“It’s great to see the girls get the win in the end,” Boland said.

“All game we were down and then we were up, but in the end we just went back to our structures and that was what won us the game.”

Meanwhile the Sapphire squad endured a physical and high-performance game.

The Titans came out strong with an early lead and the Bull Sharks worked tirelessly to bring the margin back, but each time the Titans rebuilt their distance.

“The girls did a great job at keeping up with their play, but we really needed to capitalise earlier in the game,” Boland said.

“It was still a really good game and there were some beautiful structures there as well, we just needed to execute a bit better.”

As quite a young and inexperienced team, Bond did exceptionally well to put up a strong fight against the experienced Titans players such as international rep Cathrine Latu who has played for both Samoa and New Zealand.

As the Sapphires lick their wounds and the Rubies gain confidence from their win, both teams will be looking forward to their upcoming home game against the Jets on the weekend.
