Bond students show sporting excellence

Two Bond students are showcasing their sporting talents on the world stage.

Codie Klein has been selected to represent Australia at the ISA (International Surfing Association) Cup in China from November 20 - 26. Codie has previously placed fourth at the ISA World Junior Cup and second at the ISA Open World Games.

Codie - who is studying Commerce - will face strong competition, with the Chinese national team competing in the Cup for the first time in its history. She hopes to improve her ISA rank at this tournament.

Mat Belcher has again been recognised for his achievements in sailing, after receiving a fourth nomination for World Sailor of the Year. He won the prestigious award last year, placing him at the top of the international ranks.

The award was announced yesterday in Spain, and although Matt and his sailing partner Will did not take top prize this year, Mat still has his sights firmly set on the next Olympic Games.

"Will and I are really honoured to be nominated for this years World Sailor of the Year," Mat said.

"We have had a great year especially backing up from last year's season where we won all events we competed in.

"To be nominated four times in five years is pretty special. There's still a long way to go to Rio but so far so good."
