Bull Sharks host Brothers on Ladies Day

Bull Sharks Premier Men will leave nothing in the tank as they host the competition frontrunners at the Canal, Premier Women hope to celebrate Ladies Day against a Brothers outfit yet to find top gear, and our Colts 1 boys won’t take anything for granted against dangerous opposition.

Bull Sharks v Brothers at The Canal

Premier Men

Last time they met

Round 5 2025 at Crosby Park

Bull Sharks lost 33-26

The game followed the same pattern as previous weeks. We were down 12 -0 early but bounced back to lead 14-12 at half time. We scored again just after half time to make it 19-12.  They scored twice to make it 26-19 but we fought back to make it 26 - 26 and then we just failed to manage the final minutes of the match.

The opposition

Bond Rugby

Brothers are the defending premiers and they've been playing very well. They’ve only lost two games this year, so they're in really good shape. They and Wests are the two teams to beat. They’re a really well drilled, talented side. We had a close loss against them in first round so we’re determined to reverse the result this time.

The challenge

We’re now in a situation where we’re in the mix for finals but we need to keep winning to nail down a spot, so that's the mental challenge.

Shuffling the magnets

We have George Blake available to us from the Reds, so he’ll come in.

Ones to watch

Dion Evans had his first game back from injury last week and having a look back at the Brothers game earlier in the year, he played really well. We got a good bit of rust out of him last week, so he should have a big game this week.

The focus

It’s really just building on our performance from last week, just being a bit more clinical when we get opportunities

Final words

It should be a big day with Ladies Day. We should have a huge crowd. We’re looking forward to it.

 Round 6, 2025

 Bull Sharks won 22 -14

The opposition

You wouldn't think they’re a bottom of the table team. They're pretty well structured and they can score tries from anywhere on the field. They like to keep the ball in hand and they're quite dangerous when they do it. Our territory game with our kick is quite strong, so I think we just keep with that.

Shuffling the magnets

Hunter Robinson comes back in.  Keanu Rasch has been awesome, he was away as well last time, but he's back this in number eight this weekend. Sam Howarth our captain will be back in this weekend too.

Ones to watch

Our centre Mason King’s just come back in. He got suspended for a few weeks and missed a game and he's just finding his groove again, so I reckon he'll definitely be one to watch.

The focus
I think just sticking to our processes in terms of our game management and playing in the right areas of the field. Because that's when we tend to put teams under a lot of pressure, so sticking to that game plan.  I think our kick chase has got to be really strong as well so that we're making the most of those good kicks that we do.

Final words
Expect the boys to really put in a strong performance this week. They’re probably a little bit disappointed last week, so I'm expecting the team to take a step up.

Round 6 of Storelocal Challenge 2025

Bull Sharks won 7-0

The opposition

Brothers have got a team studded with Reds players.  They are going to be strong up front in the engine room. They’ll be looking for a win as they haven’t gone as well as expected.

The challenge

For us to win this, we need to go bang. We need to aim up physically and we’re not going to shy away from it. We’ll take these guys up front and see who survives.

Zara Colless
Zara Colless

Shuffling the magnets

Zara Colless will come back into 10 and Tsubasa Sasagawa will come into 15 and we’ll keep our spine that has got us through the earlier stages of the season. We are still looking at the forwards. We’ve got a pretty good forward pack so it's just finding the balance of who goes in and who comes off the bench, it's probably been our weakest point around that bench. When players come off the bench we seem to go backwards.

Ones to watch

Our centres Skye and Ava, keep a close eye on those two. Ava’s playing some real good footy and Skye has just found another level.

The focus

To win the bang. We ned to muscle up in defence and physicality. If we win that then we win the game.

Final word

We’re just ready to go. It’s a big day with Ladies Day. We’ll look to take care of business and then we’ll party afterwards.
