Tanya Atwill

Professional biography

Tanya is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Bond University Faculty of Law GDLP (Practical Legal Training) Program. Tanya completed her LLB at the Queensland University of Technology in 1989, was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 1991 and has worked in private practice for many decades. Tanya joined the GDLP team at Bond University in 2011 and has teaching experience in Lawyers Skills and Values, Civil Litigation Practice, Ethics and Professional Practice and Wills and Estate Administration. Tanya became the GDLP Director in July of 2019. Tanya has presented numerous papers including at the Wellness for Law Network in Melbourne in 2019, at the Queensland Law Society Symposium on the Gold Coast in June 2019 and at Bond University for Office of Learning and Teaching Symposiums. Tanya has extensive experience in legal practice including civil and commercial litigation, and wills and estate administration. Tanya was one of three chief investigators and co-author of the report on The Job Readiness of Law Graduates and Entry Level Solicitors in Private Practice commissioned by the Queensland Law Society and released to the profession in 2023. Tanya is a Board Member of the Australasian Professional Legal Education Council Community Ltd (APLEC Ltd) and co-chair of the working group appointed by APLEC Ltd to review and redraft the National Competency Standards for Entry-Level Lawyers (the PLT Standards).
