Research interests

Nasir Uddin is an accomplished vision scientist with over a decade of research experience in retinal cell biology and ocular neuroimmunology, with a focus on retinal degenerative diseases. He received his PhD in Vision Science from the University of Sydney and subsequently undertook postdoctoral training at the University of Canberra and Harvard Medical School (USA), before joining Bond University.

Nasir’s research has significantly advanced the structural and functional understanding of the lymphatic and glymphatic systems in mammalian eyes, particularly in the context of glaucoma. In the field of ocular immunology, his work is centred on glial cell-mediated immune responses using rodent models of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Overall, his research aims to elucidate novel cellular and molecular targets for therapeutic intervention in retinal disorders.
