Research interests

After 15 years in the engineering industry I kickstarted my academic career with a PhD in Innovation Management. My research investigated how SMEs adopt and apply innovation tools in support of their new product development processes.

My current research interests are corporate entrepreneurship and innovation management. With a specific focus on frugal innovation (FI), my research aims to address factors that both inhibit and foster innovation in organisations and encourage the uptake of frugal innovation strategies in Australian organisations.  Ultimately, my overarching research goal is to conduct impactful research that supports industry  in the re-engineering of existing 'premium' products and services into more sustainable, affordable, and accessible offerings that provide greater overall value to consumers. To this end I am collaborating with researchers from the Center for Frugal Innovation at the Hamburg University of Technology.
