Professional biography

Dr Amy Bannatyne is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Phase 1 Student Support Lead in the Medical Program at Bond University. Amy is an early career researcher whose main research interests focus on (i) understanding and reducing volitional (blame-based) stigma in eating disorders using etiological framing and educational interventions, and (ii) improving the identification and measurement of disordered eating in pregnancy, a highly stigmatised scenario. For her PhD research, she developed and validated the Disordered Eating Attitudes in Pregnancy Scale (DEAPS). Amy is also interested in understanding the drivers, facilitators, manifestations, and outcomes of mental health stigma more broadly in health care and tertiary environments.
