GDLP77-304: Banking and Finance Practice

Description

This is an elective subject for the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (ONLINE and On-campus) which covers the optional practice area “Banking and Finance”. The aim of this subject is to provide students with an understanding of banking and finance law in Australia and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge required to advise clients on financing commercial transactions, draft simple loan agreements and perfect securities.

Learning outcomes

  1. Advise on requirements imposed under the law in relation to financial transactions.
  2. Plan the steps to be taken to effect a proposed transaction.
  3. Demonstrate drafting skills by drafting loan and security documents necessary to effect a commercial loan transaction.
  4. Evaluate any further due diligence searches and inquiries required and explain what experts need to engage to ensure interests of parties to transaction are protected.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. Students are expected to have completed at least 40 credit points of GDLP75 subjects.
