Research Week has wrapped up with Bond University honouring its best and brightest researchers at the annual Research Awards.

Professor Ahmed Moustafa received the Vice Chancellor’s Research Excellence Award for his internationally recognised work in mental health analytics, computational modelling, and machine learning.

A prolific author, Professor Moustafa has written 11 books on topics ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to female pioneers of the Middle East.

The Early Career Research Excellence Award went to Assistant Professor Megan Lee, whose research in nutritional psychiatry explores the powerful connection between diet, mind, and mood.

Dr Michelle Guppy received the PhD Excellence Award for her thesis on chronic kidney disease management, while Associate Professor Catherine McDermott was honoured with the Research Supervision Award for her outstanding mentorship and contributions to Bond’s research community.

Vice Chancellor and President Professor Tim Brailsford congratulated the winners on their achievements.

“Bond is home to a vibrant, high-performing research community, and tonight we celebrate that excellence with our award recipients,” he said.

“Your efforts and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and your achievements are truly worthy of celebration.”

Deputy Provost (Research) Professor Michael Kimlin said Research Week had showcased the world-leading work being undertaken across the university.
