Internationally acclaimed architect to exhibit works at the Abedian School of Architecture Lecture Series

The Abedian School of Architecture at Bond University is concluding its 2014 Architectural Lecture Series with a special presentation by internationally renowned architect and associate professor at the California College of Arts, Andrew Kudless.

The successful series of free lectures has featured presentations by some of the industry's most notable practitioners and academics, such as Australian architectural duo Lindsay and Kerry Clare of Clare Designs - the design team behind the award-winning Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) at South Bank in Brisbane.

Assistant Professor of Architecture and Discipline Leader Chris Knapp said the upcoming lecture would focus on the work Andrew Kudless has completed with architecture students in the area of industrial robotics during his tenure as Visiting Professor at the Abedian School of Architecture.

"Andrew Kudless is the founder of architectural company MATSYS, an interdisciplinary architecture and design studio based in San Francisco that explores the emergent relationships between architecture, engineering, biology, and computation," Professor Knapp said.

"During his time as Visiting Professor at Bond University, Andrew has been working with the students on developing the capabilities of the School’s Robotics Lab, which has progressed from creating simple drawings to generating experimental structures with robotically-milled joinery.

"The lecture will coincide with the opening of an exhibition of robotic fabrication and generative computation designs developed by students in class with Associate Professor Kudless, as well as examples of his professional work over the past 10 years.

"We look forward to welcoming guests to what will be an extraordinary lecture for the final of the 2014 series."

The free lecture, which is open to the public, will be held in the Abedian School of Architecture Forum (Building 3B on the Bond University campus) on November 20. Refreshments will be served at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start to the lecture. The exhibition will run until 4 December.

Having previously taught at the Architectural Association in London, Rice University, Yale University, and Ohio State University, Andrew Kudless' final lecture of the 2014 Architectural Lecture Series is set to be a captivating event.
