Bond University's annual Twilight Open Day will embrace the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, putting into the spotlight new programs, new facilities and cutting-edge technology, as part of an interactive line-up to educate and inspire prospective students.
The Twilight Open Day will be held on Saturday, 22 July, and features a jam-packed itinerary of 'hands-on' learning opportunities to help students select the right career path to realise their ambitions.
Bond University will open the doors to its new million-dollar co-working space in the Bond Business School - the home of its Australia-first Transformer program, which encourages students to innovate and collaborate to create solutions to real world issues. An innovation workshop will also be a highlight at the business hub.
The Faculty of Law will offer guests a glimpse of the future, showcasing what the new law school will look like after it undergoes a major renovation in the coming months, while prospective students are invited to try their hand at arguing their point during a mock trial in Bond’s state-of-the-art moot courts.
Visitors will also be given the chance to test drive drones and experiment with 3D printing at the Faculty of Society and Design's Media and Design station, alongside an architecture student exhibit and information hub, which includes a woodwork demonstration and architecture robot display.
Guided tours and interactive experiences will be available across a range of study programs within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, from medicine to exercise and sports science.
Those interested in a career in sport can also hear from Olympic gold medallist swimmer and Bond University student, Melanie Wright (nee Schlanger), during a Q&A session.
Bond University College will share information for those looking to take a non-traditional path to higher education, while Student Life and Services will discuss Bond's unique initiatives to enhance students' global employability.
All Saints Anglican School student Dylan Nicholson, who attended the Twilight Open Day in 2016, said the event helped him explore study options and put him on the right path, ahead of his final year of secondary school.
“Bond University’s Open Day definitely changed my perspective of what I wanted to do, based on my strengths and what I’m passionate about," he said.
"I was able to tour the campus and its facilities and chat to current students about life as a Bondy."
Bond University Director, Domestic Recruitment, Peter Franks said the Twilight Open Day was an opportunity for both prospective students and the wider community to visit Bond.
"We encourage anyone who is interested to explore our world-class facilities, sample our cutting-edge programs, talk to staff and students, or just enjoy our campus and the fantastic program of free entertainment," he said.
"For those who are considering higher education in the coming years, Bond's Twilight Open Day allows you to ask plenty of questions and experience the university environment first-hand."
As part of the festivities, Bond University will host a free, four-hour entertainment program for the whole family - Live At Bond - including an energetic performance by popular funk nine-piece, Electrik Lemonade at the ADCO Amphitheatre, and a fireworks display at 7.45pm.
Bond University’s Twilight Open Day will be held from 2pm to 6pm, with campus tours departing every 30 minutes.
