Bond University awarded five stars for fifth year running

Bond University has received a five star rating for student-staff ratio* and graduate outcomes for the fifth consecutive year in the 2011 Good Universities Guide, affirming the University has it right when it comes to providing a personalised and outcomes-driven education.

As Australia’s leading, private, not-for-profit university, located on the Gold Coast, Bond University is also Queensland’s highest rating university earning the most five star ratings of any university in the state.

The independent consumer guide is Australia’s only definitive guide to university performance, providing ratings, rankings, comment and information about all Australian higher education institutions.

Bond University Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Stable said achieving a five star assessment in the key indicators is testament to the University’s commitment to offer its students a personalised education that prepares graduates for work on the world stage.

“Our five star assessment in the Good Universities Guide for student satisfaction, student:staff ratio and graduate outcomes for the fifth year running acknowledges our consistent focus on quality personalised education, the dedication of our world-class teaching staff and the outstanding success of our graduates, Professor Stable.

“We are proud to provide our students with a unique education with small classes that are practical in experience, provide ample opportunity for international internships and exchanges programs, and offer curricula that is focused on managerial functions to develop graduates who are work-ready and global in perspective.

“These accolades come only one month after AUQA commended Bond for its student experience and truly international curricula.

“Bond University brings a new dimension to tertiary education in this country, providing greater choice for Australian students, producing exceptional graduates that meet the needs of global employers.  This year’s Good Universities Guide five star ratings for graduate outcomes and graduate starting salaries confirm this.

“In the past several years our graduates have secured jobs at multinational companies all over the world including UbiSoft – one of Europe’s biggest computer gaming software companies, Barclays, JP Morgan, Microsoft, and IBM, and leading law firms Freehills and Clayton Utz,” said Professor Stable.

In summary, the 2011 Good Universities Guide rated Bond University five stars for:

  • Student:staff ratio

* Hobsons has clarified information in the 2011 Guide and advised that Bond’s Student:Staff ratio is in fact well above the average at 5 stars as follows -  ”The staff student ratio rating published in the 2011 edition of the Guide is calculated on 2007 Full Time Equivalent Teaching Academic Staff and Onshore Equivalent Full Time Student Load, (EFTSL) data published by DEEWR. Annual student EFTSL calculations differ between universities subject to the number of credit points typically undertaken by students. We’ve noted this year that Bond’s EFTSL calculation is based on their 120 credit point trimester year which places their ratio at 3 stars. Adjusting Bond’s reported EFTSL for the more usual 80cp student load indicates that Bond offers among the lowest Student: Staff ratios nationally, placing them well above the average at 5 stars.” Ross White, Data Coordinator, Hobsons.
