Description
This subject is a continuation of PSYC71-400. Students continue to work on their research theses under the supervision of an academic staff member. Students present their research in the form of a poster at the 4th Year poster session, and submit 4 bound copies of the completed thesis for examination.

Learning outcomes
1. Understand, apply and evaluate basic research methods in psychology, including research design, data analysis and interpretation, and the appropriate use of technologies;
2. Respect and use critical and creative thinking, sceptical enquiry, and the scientific approach to solve problems related to behaviour and mental processes;
3. Use information in an ethical manner;
4. Communicate effectively in a variety of formats and in a variety of contexts;
5. Demonstrate comprehension and application of a broad and coherent body of knowledge of Psychology, with depth of understanding of underlying principles, theories and concepts in the discipline, using a scientific approach.
6. Investigate a substantive individual research question relevant to the discipline of Psychology.

The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science are accredited Fourth Year pathways for provisional registration and further studies in Psychology. Entry into these programs is based on a calculated GPA derived from a completed three year sequence of study in Psychology as accredited by APAC and subjects can only be taken by those students successfully admitted to either degree. This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure. |
