JPNL11-101: Japanese Language and Culture


Japanese is a key world language for cultural, economic, research and government interactions. Japan is one of the most dynamic nations in Asia and a major trading partner of Australia. Study Japanese and expand your cultural awareness, your ability to effectively communicate across cultural borders and your career opportunities in the global marketplace.  

This subject was designed for students with no previous knowledge of the Japanese language. The aim of this subject is to enhance your awareness and understanding of Japanese speaking societies and cultures and to help you develop a basic level of communicative proficiency in the Japanese language. Using a content and language integrated approach, this subject will introduce you to various aspects of the societies and cultures of Japanese speaking countries while developing a basic competence in the language.

Learning outcomes
