INTR13-303: China's Defence and Security

Description

This subject examines China’s defence and security in terms of the risks and challenges it faces, its strategic environment and policy directions. Historical-cultural factors that shape contemporary China’s strategic outlook are also considered, as is the new strategic landscape that is emerging under China’s expanding influence. This has been aided by the transformation of its defence and security forces through increased technological sophistication whilst ensuring ideological commitment. Traditional and non-traditional, internal and external security issues are explored through class exercises. These include transborder issues, counter-terrorism, new defence missions, and influence operations.
