It can affect every aspect of international relations, including trade, economics, information transfers, culture, gender, and religion. Understanding terrorism requires an interdisciplinary approach, and this subject equips you with the history, foundational concepts and theoretical frameworks to analyse and counter increasingly dangerous and ever-changing phenomenon.

Learning outcomes

  1. Evaluate terrorism and its impact on various elements of international relations, including trade, economics, information transfers, culture, gender, and religion.
  2. Analyse the motivations and transnational nature of terrorism using interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks.
  3. Examine the strategies deployed by states and institutions to combat terrorism.
  4. Disply understanding of different perspectives in terrorism โ€“ the media, government, โ€˜terroristโ€™ and others.
  5. Apply interdisciplinary approaches to develop an understanding of terrorism and its global implications.
