Description
French Language and Culture is designed for students with no previous knowledge of French. French is the official language of over twenty countries and many international organisations, including the United Nations, the European Union and the World Trade Organisation. It is also an international language of literature and science. Studying French language, cultures and societies will expand your cultural and intercultural awareness and your ability to communicate effectively across cultural borders. It will also extend your global career opportunities. Through content and language integrated approach, focusing on aspects of French cultures, the subject also aims to develop basic communicative proficiency in the French language.

Learning outcomes
1. Identify, analyse, evaluate and communicate introductory knowledge of the French language and broad theoretical knowledge about the French Language and Culture. 2. Independently and in teams, generate and transmit solutions to unpredictable and sometimes complex problems related to the French Language and Culture. 3. Apply the knowledge and understanding of the French Language and Culture to professional work and/or further learning, demonstrating well-developed judgement and responsibility.
