ENGL12-106: World Literature

Description

This subject focuses on the power of literature to cultivate a global perspective and enhance our understanding of diverse conceptions of human life. You will explore key texts that, although created in specific cultural and geographical contexts for local audiences, have transcended those boundaries. These texts are now read globally, in multiple languages, and across different periods. Investigating these texts will allow you to appreciate the myriad ways human experience is depicted in literature. Furthermore, analysing how literary features, such as translation, impact our understanding of the worlds described in these stories will enhance your capabilities as global citizens. This subject aims to increase awareness of how studying world literature can foster new, more responsible understandings of humanity.
