The Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Innovations is designed for health professionals from all international medical, nursing and allied health disciplines, health administrators, academics and others interested in innovations in health care. Graduates will be systems thinkers, knowledge brokers and problem solvers who can apply their knowledge of health and healthcare, to innovate, influence, translate research and technology, to meet the 21st-century health care needs of the Australian population.

The Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Innovations will deepen professionals’ knowledge of health systems, evidence-based practice and organisational behaviour. Professionals will learn to use design thinking and problem solving strategies to lead, educate and influence colleagues and healthcare users towards improving and innovating healthcare practice.
The Graduate Diploma can be completed in eight months full time, or over multiple semesters part time. Six core subjects must be completed, and two elective subjects chosen.

The below fees are based on the total estimated program fee divided by the number of standard full-time semesters required to complete the program. Fees may vary based on which subjects are selected and the number of subjects enrolled in for each semester.

Academic entry requirements
Entry into the Graduate Diploma requires the following:
- A minimum Bachelor level degree in Health or a related program with a minimum GPA of 1/4 (equivalent to 4/7), or
- A minimum Bachelor level degree in a non-health related area with a minimum GPA of 1/4 (equivalent to 4/7) plus 3 years relevant work experience

Credit for prior study
Subject credits may be awarded for previous studies. To apply for credits, you will need to submit academic transcripts including detailed subject outlines/course descriptions for each relevant subject and/or certified copies of testamurs to the Office of Future Students. The program will develop a diverse cohort of systems thinkers, knowledge brokers and problem solvers who can apply their knowledge of health and healthcare, to innovate, influence, translate research and technology, to meet the 21st-century health care needs of the Australian population.
The degree will provide graduates with the ability to:
- Appraise and apply evidence relevant to the population, community and individual health care needs to independently evaluate the worth of newly proposed health policy and clinical management options
- Translate effective research into clinical practice and policy to improve health outcomes
- Describe the socio-economic contexts, organisational frameworks and funding arrangements of the Australian health care system and selected international comparators for optimum delivery of public health, preventive and clinical services.
- Discuss how to bring about systematic reform in the health care system by developing different models of care, new technologies, new business models and a disruptive value network using innovation.
- Demonstrate an ability to lead the provision of patient centered care
- Employ interpersonal skills that can influence and engage stakeholders though a detailed understanding of the health system, organisational behaviour and leadership
- Use systems thinking to lead, educate and influence inter-professional teams and stakeholders in the health care setting

Graduate Certificate in Health Systems
The Graduate Certificate can be completed in four months full time or equivalent part time. Two core subjects must be completed, and two elective subjects chosen. The Graduate Certificate in Health Systems will positively challenge the way professionals understand and work within Australian and international health systems. The way in which the diverse population interacts with and uses healthcare services will be explored to promote equitable systems.
Graduate Certificate in Evidence Based Practice (Available to Domestic students only)
The Graduate Certificate can be completed in twelve to eighteen months part time. Three core subjects must be completed, and one elective subject chosen. The Graduate Certificate in Evidence Based Practice will transform the way professionals interpret and keep up to date with the growing volume of research evidence. It will deepen professionals’ critical thinking to apply evidence-based practice to maintain high quality practice and inform improvements where appropriate. It will also provide an understanding of research methodologies for students considering research higher degrees.
Students may wish to study the above programs and transition into the Masters program, at which time they may wish to apply for credit for prior study.
