Dr Stephen van der Mye

Professional biography

Stephen graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (1st Class Honours) and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of New South Wales and later returned to complete a Master of Business Law which he achieved with Distinction and appeared on the Law Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance for the subjects of Corporate Governance and Dispute Resolution: Principles, Processes and Practices.

Stephen has an extensive background as both an Executive Director and Non-executive Director in a variety of organisations; both large and small, onshore and offshore; covering agribusiness; banking and financial services; biotechnology and life sciences; electrical equipment manufacturing; health administration; mining and mineral processing; infrastructure and utility services; retail and wholesale services; and university and vocational education.

Stephen’s interests lie in the areas of corporate and enterprise governance, from both a compliance and performance perspective, including strategic thinking; financial management; operational planning; organisational structures; performance monitoring; risk identification and mitigation; and prudential supervision.
