Research interests
I am interested in the physiology and pharmacology of the lower urinary tract in health and disease, particularly the mechanisms controlling the motility of the ureter, where kidney stones commonly lodge. Current pharmacological treatments administered to kidney stone patients are not fully effective and are associated with adverse effects. Therefore, my research aim is to identify novel targets for treatment that will benefit these patients by increasing the rate of stone passage and relieving patients from the excruating pain when passing these stones.
