The Bond University Women's Network 'Women in Research' breakfast showcases three inspiring Bond women researchers at different stages of their research career. Highlighting not only their research but also stories of their professional and personal journeys.

Speakers Announced
Prof Julie Redfern
Prof Julie Redfern is a Professor of Public Health, NHMRC Leadership Fellow and a Physiotherapist. Professor Redfern currently holds an NHMRC Investigator Grant Level 2 for which she won the NHMRC Elizabeth Blackburn Award for Health Services. In May 2024 she became Director of the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare at Bond University. She also recently won the NSW Woman of Excellence Award, a University of Sydney Vice Chancellor’s Award for Leadership and Mentoring and an Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Award (ACvA) for Mentoring. She has been Chief Investigator on research grants totalling $30M in the past 5 years and has published over 260 manuscripts. She is currently a member of the World Heart Federation and Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Science Committees, Chair of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Scientific Advisory Committee and is co-Director of the Implementation and Policy Flagship. She has over 15 years' experience developing, testing and implementing scalable strategies to close evidence-practice gaps and improve health outcomes for people with chronic and cardiovascular disease.
Dr Jane Hunt
Dr Hunt is an Assistant Professor in Australian Studies and Research Methods, with 25 years of teaching experience. Recipient of the 2009 Fryer Library Award, she has published articles in Australian history, sport history, women’s history, and sport and memory, six entries in the Australian Dictionary of Biography and three books in sport history including two aimed at fostering the voice and visibility of women in sport. Dr Hunt’s current research interests focus on women in triathlon, and the gendered structures of knowledge about sport. A member of the Triathlon Australia Awards Committee, Bond University Women’s Network Committee, she is the current President of the Australian Society for Sport History.
Dr Iris Lim
Dr. Iris Lim is a researcher with a specialised focus on the physiology and pharmacology of the lower urinary tract, particularly the ureter and urethra. Her research aims to uncover novel therapeutic targets that could improve the passing of kidney stones, reducing pain, and addressing the challenges associated with current pharmacological treatments, which often have limited efficacy and adverse effects. Additionally, Dr. Lim's work extends to understanding and developing better treatments for stress urinary incontinence. Beyond the lab, Dr. Lim is passionate about education research, particularly in applying evidence-based innovative teaching methods to engage and inspire students. She has developed up to 10 educational escape rooms across the different faculties as an active learning tool, which has not only enriched the learning experience for students across the university but has also received multiple institutional, national and international teaching awards.
Bond University Women’s Network (BUWN)
BUWN seeks to be an inclusive network of women, and those who value women, from the Bond community. Their mission sets out the intent to support and assist Bond women with their own development, as well as providing a forum to promote all causes for the betterment of women and families. BUWN endeavours to support and inspire each other by sharing our journeys, education, and experiences.
