Dr. Jason Limnios from the Clem Jones Centre for Regenerative Medicine presented latest research on treating blindness through stem cell therapies and the goals of the centre to treat age-related macular degeneration and other retinal degenerative diseases. In addition, Acellular Dermal Matrix (ADM) patient as well as retinal surgeon, Dr. Bob Bourke shared their perspectives of vision loss, the realities and challenges they face, and expressed their hopes for the upcoming wave of stem cell therapies. The lecture also included a demonstration on how the retina works.
