National Indigenous Business School Queensland

The National Indigenous Business School (NIBS) Queensland program is a free, week-long program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 11 and 12 who are curious about business, university life, or starting their own ideas.

Hosted at Bond Business School on Kombumerri land (Gold Coast), the program gives you a real taste of what it’s like to be a university student. You’ll work in teams on real-world business challenges, learn from university staff and Indigenous mentors, and explore different pathways into business and higher education.

NIBS is all about building confidence, making connections, and seeing how business can create positive change for communities — while having fun and meeting new people along the way.

What to expect from the program

During the week, students will take part in hands-on workshops, team challenges and campus experiences designed to build skills, confidence and connections. Participants will:

  • Work on real-world business challenges and explore different sides of business
  • Build their future toolkit through workshops on career planning, university pathways and scholarships
  • Experience university life at Bond and visit other universities across South East Queensland
  • Connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, Indigenous entrepreneurs and mentors
  • Explore local culture and community, including visits to places such as Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, explore Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Bond’s Indigenous art collections

Students will be supported by friendly staff and mentors throughout the week to ensure they feel safe, confident and welcome.
