Bull Sharks out to shoot down the Jets

Bull Sharks v Jets at Nissan Arena

Sasha-May Flegler v Thunder
Sasha-May Flegler

Sapphire Series

Last time they met.

Bull Sharks lost  67-47

They defeated us both rounds in 2023 and were the eventual runner’s up.

The opposition:

Jets are currently undefeated. They have a core group of players who have been together over a number of years and they have a strong, physical presence.

On reflection:

I am very pleased with our overall performance against the Cougars. The girls really controlled their own output and had really great communication when adjustments needed to be made. I definitely think that we are still building, and we have opportunity for continued growth.

Look out for:

Maddie Ryan and Lauren Aubrey really consolidated their combination against the Cougars. I am excited to add Ella Spencer into the mix this week. They are just three completely different styles, building the connection and confidence in one another will take time, and trust, but I feel we are getting there.

The focus:

There can be no lapses. I think along with the Thunder, the Jets are a benchmark team in the competition. They have a great blend of experience and youth, and many existing connections on court. It will be a really great test for us to see where we are at. It is going to be very important that we stay focused for the full 60 minutes. Jets is a team that will punish us if we have any lapses.

Ruby Series

Last time they met:

Bull Sharks won 57-50

Jets have a whole new look Ruby team this year with a number of experienced Sapphire players in the team. We will need to be switched on for the full 4 quarters and stay true to our game plan if we want to take the win this week.

On reflection:

After a tough loss on the weekend where the girls didn’t play to their full potential, we are looking to learn from this and take those learnings into our game against the Jets.

The opposition:

They have a great blend of experienced players and new players so we will need to ensure that we keep our unforced errors to a minimum otherwise Jets like Cougars last week will capitalise on them.

Look out for:

The combination of Tehya Hyssett and Harriet Nicholson. They have built an amazing connection over the last few weeks, and we are excited to add Abi Houston (pending clearance) into the mix this week. This will be the first time this season that all 3 defenders will be together.

Welcome back:

We are hoping to have our full team back for the first time this season with the return of Abi Houston (pending clearance) and Joesi Gisinger for a full game this week as she was restricted to only a half game on the weekend.
