Professional biography
Catharina has earned her PhD at the Bond University Centre for Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise in 2023. Her research focuses on trust-control dynamics in organisations and their impact on innovation and workplace wellbeing. With a particular interest in family-owned businesses as well as social entrepreneurship in the Australian not-for-profit space, Catharina explores how organisations build and leverage trust for long-term success.
Prior to entering academia, Catharina held various management and executive roles in business development, market research, and business consulting. Navigating complex organisational challenges inspired her to translate real-world business issues into rigorous research with practical relevance. As an educator by training, Catharina is an advocate for teaching cases and has published several Ivey Case Studies related to organisational transformation, trust and control, as well as leader and employee wellbeing.
Research interests
Catharina has a dual background in business administration (MBA, Bond) and pedagogy. Before joining the E&FE Group at Bond she gained broad practical experience in management positions in her home country, Switzerland. Her research investigates the role of trust and alignment within, between, and among teams of decision-making teams in the family business context, and the subsequent impact on economic and social performance.
