Library initiative towards reconciliation

In 2023, the Library established a working group to review the library services and operations under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Library and Information Resource Network (ATSILIRN) protocols.

Several recommendations are being worked on, but the one we are pleased to share this Reconciliation Week is in Library Search.

Cultural sensitivity indicators

We have enriched a set of catalogue records with content advice notes about cultural sensitivity. These books were identified using the Trove API to find titles that we hold and that have been flagged as containing culturally sensitive content for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Trove is a repository of digitised Australian resources and holdings of Australian libraries, archives and museum. It is hosted by the National Library of Australia.

You will see yellow dots to indicate resources that are in our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources collection, and on specific records that are culturally sensitive there will be a flag for content advice. To read the advice, view the full record where you will see the note highlighted near the top.
