Problematic publisher alerts

The Library has enabled ThirdIron's Problematic Publishers alerts in both Library Search and the LibKey Nomad browser extension, providing researchers with additional information to assess the quality and transparency of scholarly publishing.

Articles published in a journal associated with a publisher that has raised concerns, will display a problematic journal badge or button. Selecting the alert provides context on the publisher and the identified concerns.

From there, you can access the article and make your own informed assessment.

For staff and students using LibKey Nomad in their browser, there is also an alert on the websites of identified publishers. This problematic domain badge helps you evaluate publishing opportunities and information you encounter on the open web.

The assessments are based on a review of publisher practices across peer review, editorial oversight, transparency, publication fees, and open-access policies.

This feature supports Bond University's commitment to research quality and critical thinking by providing additional context at the point of discovery - whether you're searching Library Search, exploring articles online, or considering where to publish your research.
