Creating space for connection in the Main Library
As part of Bond Together Week, the Main Library is creating a welcoming space in the foyer where students and staff can slow down, connect, and share stories. Throughout the week, visitors will find the Belonging Mat set up with cushions and ottomans - an inviting place to sit, yarn, or simply take a moment of pause.
The Belonging Mat is a cultural resource developed to support reflection, storytelling, and social connection. The Library aims to highlight the many ways it can be used to foster community and conversation.
This event recognises that the library is more than a place to study or access resources; it is a space where people from diverse backgrounds come together to learn, connect, and feel supported.
A Space for Community
Students and staff are invited to sit, make new connections, share stories or just chat. Just drop in and meet whoever is there.
Monday 23 - Thursday 26 of February
The Library will showcase a selection of works by Indigenous authors and other titles exploring the theme of belonging. These works offer powerful perspectives, imaginative storytelling, and rich cultural insight. All books on display are available to borrow.

• Ideas for using the mat to support conversation, connection, and cultural learning
The Belonging Mat will be available in the Main Library foyer throughout Bond Together Week. Whether you want to relax between classes, meet new people, listen to stories, or explore Indigenous literature, we invite you to drop in and experience the space.
Everyone is welcome.
