Recycle your old glasses

Do you have some old prescription glasses that you no longer wear?

Take this opportunity to support a great cause. Recycle your old, unused prescription glasses by dropping them into the Lions Recycle for Sight Australia glasses bin in the Main Library this week.

This life changing program has been running since 1998, delivering almost 19 million pairs of spectacles to men, women and children in need.

They have been sent to Africa, the Indian Sub- continent, East Asia, and the countries of the Pacific Rim and Southern Asia and Oceania.

Recycle for Sight is bolstered by "humanitarian organisations either travelling to a developing country or supplying shipping container loads of suitable humanitarian aid from Australia to groups in these countries.
In addition, "over the past 10 years, members of the Lions’ Marine Branch have been able to use their oceangoing yachts to reach and test the eyesight of villagers living in remote locations and deliver spectacles to them". -- https://lionsclubs.org.au/our-impact/recycle-for-sight-australia

Lions Australia also recycle hearing aids or unused contact lenses to the program.
