Description

Professional Practice provides students the opportunity in an authentic learning environment to develop both their skills for the real world of the construction industry. The subject encourages students to combine self-analysis and reflective learning skills with professional methodologies to expand their analytic and strategic thinking capabilities. It also provides practical experience for students to appreciate the requirements of industrial practice and develop their communication skills to improve their ‘work readiness’. Students will complete a 12-week Workshop Program on campus that offers students a mix of classroom learning and practical experiences incorporating skills sessions, industry guest involvement and site inspections.

Learning outcomes

  1. Identify appropriate work opportunities in the construction industry and effectively promote themselves as a desirable potential employee.

Assumed knowledge is the minimum level of knowledge of a subject area that students are assumed to have acquired through previous study. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they meet the assumed knowledge expectations of the subject. Students who do not possess this prior knowledge are strongly recommended against enrolling and do so at their own risk. No concessions will be made for students’ lack of prior knowledge.
