Practice of Language Teaching is the most practical subject in the TESOL program. As part of the program and subject requirements, students are evaluated during classroom-based teaching practicum. Throughout the semester, students apply the previously gained knowledge and skills to teach English as an Additional Language or Dialect classes in different educational contexts. The Practicum may take place in different educational contexts depending on students’ interests and prior qualifications. Depending on their professional interests, needs and prior qualifications, students work in primary or secondary schools or language centres. Students strengthen their teaching skills through reflective and collaborative practices. For best outcomes, students taking the TESOL programs part-time, are advised to complete this subject at the final stages of their TESOL programs.

1. Classify, compare and explain aspects of the English language in pedagogical contexts.
2. Individually and in small teams, evaluate key principles of language learning and teaching for diverse educational contexts.
3. Formulate a personalised teaching philosophy, which will prepare you for the teaching of the English language at different levels and educational contexts.
4. Employ the knowledge and pedagogical skills gained in the subject to becoming an active and independent educator in the global teaching diverse communities.
This subject is not available as a general elective. To be eligible for enrolment, the subject must be specified in the students’ program structure.
