BIM and Big Data

This is an essential microcredential for those envisioning a career in local authority planning departments and similar contexts. As openBIM technologies are increasingly being used as the technical standard for designing and documenting major building and infrastructure projects, local authorities can be expected to more enthusiastically adopt GIS technologies to build digital twins of their cities. Professionals with an understanding of the technologies to produce these digital twins will increasingly be in demand.

The BIM and Big Data course will introduce you to concepts including photogrammetry and laser scanning, and will provide you with experience in using modern software to convert multiple photographs (sometimes captured using drones) into a realistic 3D model. The course will also inform you of the importance of geographical information systems, especially to local authorities, as a tool for advance planning of transport educational and health infrastructure. Prepare to be a significant contributor to the future of construction and infrastructure.
