Global Challenges 1 provides students with an opportunity to effectively identify a complex problem that will form the basis of a major project. This innovative subject is the first stage of a series of two subjects that encompasses a group-based project, culminating in a suggested solution to solve a wicked based problem. Global Challenges 1 offers a unique transdisciplinary-led approach where Educators from various faculties integrate offering discipline-specific approaches. Wicked problems are highly complex and difficult to define with the solution to such problems often evolving into unintended consequences that require resolution of a new problem. Global Challenges 1 provides students with an opportunity to investigate such problems whilst integrating their theoretical understanding and practical experience.
Students will work in an experiential and collaborative learning environment as they develop the skills and knowledge to identify and conceptualise a wicked problem. If a problem is wicked, investigating the complexities within a dynamic social context potentially encourages activities such as exploration and integration of multiple perspectives.

For the purposes of quality assurance, Bond University conducts an evaluation process to measure and document student assessment as evidence of the extent to which program and subject learning outcomes are achieved. Some examples of student work will be retained for potential research and quality auditing purposes only. Any student work used will be treated confidentially and no student grades will be affected.

Policy on late submission and extensions
A late penalty will be applied to all overdue assessment tasks unless an extension is granted by the subject coordinator. The standard penalty will be 10% of marks awarded to that assessment per day late with no assessment to be accepted seven days after the due date. Where a student is granted an extension, the penalty of 10% per day late starts from the new due date.
Policy on plagiarism
The University’s Academic Integrity Policy defines plagiarism as the act of misrepresenting as one’s own original work: another’s ideas, interpretations, words, or creative works; and/or one’s own previous ideas, interpretations, words, or creative work without acknowledging that it was used previously (i.e., self-plagiarism). The University considers the act of plagiarising to be a breach of the Student Conduct Code and, therefore, subject to the Discipline Regulations which provide for a range of penalties including the reduction of marks or grades, fines and suspension from the University.
Feedback on assessment
Feedback on assessment will be provided to students within two weeks of the assessment submission due date, as per the Assessment Policy.

Students will work together, and with their assigned mentors, to clarify the "wicked" problem with reference to their interventions from Immersion 1 and the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.
Each student will co-design a learning contract with their mentors and the subject coordinator that defines personal learning outcomes and goals, as well as plans for the optional assessment items.
Students will work with Bond staff and Higher Degree by Research students to learn about good practice and to hear about experiences in research relevant to their interventions.
Students will meet with BUSA and other students engaged with sustainability at Bond to discuss interventions and representation and create links within the student body.
Students will meet with industry guests to discuss behavioural science in the workplace.
Students will meet with Bond academics and staff to discuss media, marketing and public relations in practice, with specific reference to the student interventions.
Students will meet with Bond academics, staff and students to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives regarding sustainability, with specific reference to the student interventions.
Students will take part in workshops with industry guests to discuss technology and social media in the workplace.
Students will meet with Government and industry representatives to learn about social procurement policies and social enterprise.
